UI, CU, OAU emerge best 3 Nigerian varsities in global ranking

The University of Ibadan (UI), has emerged as the best University in Nigeria, followed by Covenant University Ota in second place and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, in third place.

This is according to the latest global webometric rankings for 2023/2024, which also places the University of Nigeria, UNN, Nsukka, in fourth position.

It explained that UI was ranked as the overall best university in the country due to the quality of scientific research published by the institution, which includes the high results of school research and informal scientific communication, compared to other Universities.

It said that the rankings were based on contribution, effect, openness, and overall teaching quality, adding that some of these Universities are also among the best in Africa.
