UK seizes Nigerian father’s custody of son for flogging him with belt
A Nigerian doctor based in the United Kingdom has lost custody of his 16-year-old son to the government after flogging him with a belt.
It was gathered that a UK court which heard the case ordered that the doctor’s 16-year-old son be taken into custody care and could no longer go back to his father’s house.
Reports said that two of the teenager’s friends, who witnessed the brutal flogging of their school mate, testified against his father before the court.
Also confirming the incident, a child rights advocate, known as pepstalk1, narrated on her Instagram page that the boy’s father flogged his son after he caught him and his friends watching an inappropriate video.
His friends, who were invited over to the victim’s family apartment to study together, told the police and the court that the father beat his son with a belt.
They testified that the doctor repeatedly said, “Is this how you want to become a doctor?”
The two friends of the Nigerian doctor’s son had come over to the doctor’s residence to sleep over and study in preparation for their General Certificate of Secondary Education examination, it was learned.
At 3 am in the night, the doctor tip-toed into the boy’s room and caught them watching an improper video, the father got angry at his son and beat him with a belt in front of his friends.
The two friends then ran out of the scene to call the police, who came over and took the boy away.
It was reported that the case was taken to court and during the session, culminating in the court’s decision on the matter.
“The boy also said that his father was always beating him to study the subject that he doesn’t want and his father want him to study medicine at the university.
“The court later ruled that the doctor’s 16-year-old son be taken into custody care and can no longer go back to his father’s house,” the report said.
