Medics battle rising death toll following Uganda Ebola outbreak

The World Health Organisation people (WHO) has confirmed that 29 people have died from Ebola Virus Disease in Uganda, while 63 others were undergoing treatment.

Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus WHO Director-General,, confirmed the development at a news conference at the agency’s headquarters in Geneva..

According to him, WHO is working diligently in Uganda to support the government in responding to the outbreak of the disease in four districts.

Ghebreyesus said 10 infected health workers, and four others had recovered and were receiving follow-up care.

He further disclosed that WHO had released 2 million dollars from its Contingency Fund for Emergencies (CFE) to curb the outbreak.

Ghebreyesus added that the UN health agency was sending additional specialists, supplies, and resources to address the challenge.
