Woman files for divorce over husband’s plan to marry new wife
A house wife, Sadiya Bashir, has filed for a divorce before a Shari’a Court sitting in Rigasa, Kaduna State, over her husband’s plan to marry another wife.
The complainant told the court that her husband, Abdullahi Haruna, who does not provide food for her and her 10 children, also wants to sell the family’s residence.
Haruna, however, confirmed that he wanted to marry another wife but had no intention of selling the house.
He said that he had been providing for his family, based on his capabilities.
The respondent stated that he had been living peacefully with his wife, until his plans of marrying another wife came to her knowledge.
The judge, Muhktar Mu’azu, adjourned the case until Nov. 14 and ordered the couple to present their witnesses in court on that day.
