95-year-old man marries 14-year-old girl in Abuja
A 95-year-old man identified as Alhaji Muhammad Sabo has married a 14-year-old girl in Abuja community.
The wedding fatiha took place on Friday, at Dogon Ruwa village of Gawu community in Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.
Ibraheem Sa’eedu, a resident of the area, who witnessed the event and broke the news on social media said that people initially did not believe the the news of the wedding plans when he posted photos of the couple and the wedding invite on Facebook.
He had however assured them that it was for real.
Sa’eedu had posted thus, “Hard to believe to some, let me assure you that it’s real. Happy marriage in advance. The code is 05/05/23. Venue: DOGON RUWA under Gawu, Abaji Area council, F.C.T.”
Sa’eedu again on Saturday, the day after the wedding, posted on Facebook the photos from the wedding.
He wrote; “Finally the did has been done. I have witnessed ooo. Happy marriage life..tsoho.”
“The groom said he and his new bride love each.
“As I witnessed this wedding I pray may God save the marriage between a 14-year-old girl and a 95-year-old man.
“The old man said after the wedding fatiha yesterday that he didn’t care about whatever people were saying about the marriage because they love each other.
“He also said that some people may think they forced her or she married him because of money, but people should stop thinking negative about their marriage,” he wrote.
