Governor-elect of Plateau State, Mr Caleb Mutfwang, on Tuesday in Jos inaugurated a 10-member transition, handover and swearing-in committee ahead of his formal inauguration as Executive Governor of the state on May 29.
The Committee is chaired by Prof Ganyir Lombin, a lawyer, professor of Soil Science, former Director-General of the Nigerian Agricultural Lands Development Agency (NALDA) and former Nigerian Ambassador to the United Nations’ Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO).
Also inaugurated are Mr Nuhu Abok, Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and Prof Shedrach Best, a former Secretary to the Plateau State Government during the second term of the Gov Jonah Jang administration, both of whom are to serve as members.
The committee also comprises Prof Stephen Malo, a former Rector, Plateau State Polytechnic, Mr Ibrahim Bawa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr Daniel Kungmi, a former Chairman of Mikang Local Government Area, Mr Moses Mwan, a retired Permanent Secretary and Member of the National Institute (mni) Kuru, who is also to serve as its Secretary.
Other prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who were also inaugurated as members are Hajia Jamila Gwandu, Mr Davou Mang and Mr Raymond Juryit.
While inaugurating the committee members, Mutfwang thanked the people of Plateau State for giving the PDP the mandate to serve them once again, adding that he was committed to delivering the mandate and would not take the mandate for granted.
“We are not going into the government with a mindset of 95 per cent to 5 per cent, we will carry everyone along. The expectation is that we must deliver on good governance to the people of Plateau, and to be given this responsibility is an opportunity of a lifetime that must not be wasted.
“Those who will receive any benefits from this administration must know that such benefit is a channel for others too. The task ahead is quite enormous and requires us to go in as a united team, so that we can thrive in the activities of governance.
“We have great confidence in the judiciary that all the tribunals will acquit themselves with the fear of God and all sense of responsibility, as such, we ask our supporters to remain steadfast and confident,” Mutfwang said.
The Gov-elect also thanked the teeming youths of Plateau State for their overwhelming resilience during the electioneering process and promised to reward them abundantly in the course of his administration.
Also speaking, Chief Letep Dabang, a former Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state and Chairman of the Atiku/Mutfwang Campaign Council, lauded the opposition PDP for entrusting him with such a big responsibility after he decamped from APC.
He also thanked former Plateau State Gov, Sen. Jonah Jang, the Gov-elect, other critical party stakeholders and followers, for the faith they reposed in him, which culminated in PDP’s ousting of the Lalong-led ruling APC from power in Plateau State, stressing that his return to PDP added value to the party.
