Nigeria gets first female AGF

Dr Mrs Oluwatoyin Madein has become Nigeria’s first female Accountant General of the Federation (AGF) following the approval of her appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.

Madein’s appointment is contained in a statement, dated 19th May, 2023, and signed by the Director, Communications, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, HOCSF, Mohammed Ahmed, on Friday, in Abuja.

The statement quoted the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, as saying in circular that the appointment took effect from Thursday, May 18, 2023.

It added that the new AGF’s appointment followed the successful conduct of a selection process to fill the existing vacancy.

Madein and 19 other candidates were shortlisted for the position of the AGF back in January.

Born on 7th of March, 1965 in Iperu Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area (LGA) of Ogun State, the new AGF was until her appointment, the Director of Finance and Accounts in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, OHCSF.

She holds a Ph.D. in Management Finance from Walden University, Minnesota, USA.
