Burial of Gov Zulum’s spokesman Gusau slated for Sunday in Abuja
The remains of Mr Isa Gusau, the late spokesperson to Gov Babagana Zulum of Borno will be buried in Abuja on Sunday.
The Borno State government made this known in a statement on Saturday.
The statement reads: “The Borno State Government wishes to inform relatives, friends, and associates of the late spokesperson to the Governor of Borno State, Malam Isa Gusau, that his janazah prayer (burial) is scheduled for Sunday, 14th January 2024 by 4.00 pm at the Central Mosque in Abuja.
“The Borno State Governor would appreciate your presence and prayers during this difficult time.
“The Governor also expressed gratitude for your condolences and kind words.”
According to the statement, the remains of the deceased is expected to arrive in Abuja on Sunday afternoon, with the burial scheduled for 4:00 pm.
It would be recalled that the Governor’s spokesman passed away on Thursday at a hospital in India after battling a prolonged heart illness.
Gov Zulum had on Thursday announced Gusau’s death in a statement thus:
“We regret to announce the death of Mallam Isa Gusau who until his death was the special adviser media to H.E Borno Governor Babagana @ProfZulum.
“He died in the early hours of Thursday in a hospital outside the country after battling with a heart problem.”
Gusau had previously served as Spokesman to the then Governor of Borno State, now Vice President, Kashim Shettima.
The incumbent, Zulum, inherited him from his predecessor.
The deceased journalist was a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, UK.
Gusau earned a First Class Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Media, and Advertising from Middlesex University in London, United Kingdom.
He completed a Postgraduate Diploma and a Master’s Degree in Industrial and Labour Relations from the University of Maiduguri.
Additionally, he attended courses and earned certificates in Creative Writing from the University of Leadership and Persuasive Communication from Harvard University in Massachusetts, USA.
Before his foray into public relations, Gusau worked with Daily Trust, where he reached the position of deputy editor, before his resignation in 2012.
He is survived by a wife and four children.
