The leadership of the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum has condoled the Government and people of Plateau State following the tragic Christmas Eve attacks, which claimed hundreds of lives and displaced numerous households.

The forum leaders conveyed their message during a combined condolence and solidarity visit to Gov Caleb Mutfwang  at the New Government House Little Rayfield, Jos, on Wednesday.

A statement issued by the Governor’s spokesman, Gyang Bere, said that the delegation, which was led by Pa Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of the Afenigere Group, emphasized the urgent need for State Police nationwide to address the prolonged security challenges currently facing the nation.

Adebanjo strongly condemned the deliberate actions of terrorist elements invading villages, causing loss of lives and displacing people from their ancestral homes to forcefully seize their lands.

He urged President Bola Tinubu to resist any attempts by such elements to oppress innocent people and called for decisive action against the perpetrators of the Christmas Eve attacks in Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin-Ladi.

While expressing gratitude for Gov Mutfwang’s victory and affirmation at the Supreme Court, Pa Adebanjo assured the Governor of the Forum’s unwavering support and expressed the hope that such visits for condolences would cease.

Responding, Gov Mutfwang expressed profound appreciation to the delegation for their love and solidarity, pledging to fulfill the mandate of building a united and prosperous Plateau without bias.

He thanked former Plateau State Gov Jonah David Jang, Plateau elders, and its people for their determination for a peaceful Nigeria.

Mutfwang vowed to protect the people from deadly invasions, stating, “We will do our best to ensure that our people enjoy the land that God has given them in peace.”

He also appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his restraint in judicial affairs and swift response to the Christmas Eve attacks.
