Lamba’s wife was later released following the payment of a ₦5 million ransom, but the abductors held back the cleric, demanding a motorcycle as an additional condition for his release.

“Sadly, while arrangements were being made to deliver the motorcycle, Rev. Lamba fell seriously ill and passed away in the camp,” the statement read.

A memorial service in his honor has been scheduled to hold at his hometown, Kallah, on Sunday.

The statement further called on Christians and the public to continue praying for the Church and the bereaved family.

“Let us continue to pray for the Church of God and the family he left behind,” Alari added.
