The late Prof. Yohana Izam

A former Vice Chancellor of the Plateau State University, Bokkos, Prof. Yohana Izam, has died aged 59.
A family source who confirmed the death to our correspondent on Tuesday said the late don died after a routine jogging exercise in the early hours of Monday.
Born on Jan. 13, 1967, the late Izam was the Vice Chancellor of the University from 2018 to 2023.
Prior to that, he served as the Commissioner for Housing and Transport from 2003 to 2007.
He was appointed by former Plateau State Gov. Joshua Dariye as pioneer Provost of the College of Arts, Science and Technology, Kurgwi, serving from 1999 to 2003.
Izam bagged a PhD in Construction Management from the University of Jos in 2008, having earlier obtained an MSc in Construction Technology (1990) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Building (1987) from the Universities of Lagos and Jos, respectively.
He was a Professor and Head of Building Department at the University of Jos, and one-time President of the Nigerian Institute of Building.
The deceased later returned to the University to continue his academic career rising to the position of Professor of Construction Management in 2011.
The late academic is survived by his wife and three children.
