Anambra: Soludo set to succeed Gov Obiano with landslide victory
The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Charles Soludo, is coasting home to landslide victory in the Anambra State Governorship election.
Soludo, a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has won in 18 out of the 20 local government areas announced so far by collation officers at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Awka.
Due to the inability of the electoral body to conduct election in one of the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State, INEC has put on hold the announcement of the winner
The state returning officer Prof. Comfort Obi who is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar said election would hold in Ihiala LGA on Tuesday, and it is only after that that the final result would be announced.
The breakdown of the result of the Anambra Governorship Election is as follows:
Regd: 2,466,638
Accr: 241,090
APC: 42,942
APGA: 103,946
PDP: 51,322
YPP: 20,917

Total cast: 237,362
The YPP candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Uba won in Nnewi North while the PDP candidate, Val Ozigbo won in Ogbaru LGA.
Cummulatively, while the APGA candidate has polled 103,946 votes, the next candidate to him, Ozigbo of PDP got 51,322 votes while the APC candidate, Andy Uba polled 42,942 votes.
Therefore, the total votes scored by Soludo in the 20 local governments announced so far is still higher than the cumulative votes of the APC and PDP candidates, with only the Ihiala Local Government poll scheduled for Tuesday remaining.
