Ahmad Abdullahi replaces Remi Babalola as Chairman First Bank Holdings
Alhaji Ahmad Abdullahi has emerged as the new Chairman of First Bank Holdings following the resignation of the erstwhile Chairman, Mr Remi Babalola who threw in the towel few days ago.
Mr Osita Nwanisobi, Director of Corporate Communications of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in a statement announced the apex bank’s approval of Abdullahi.
He explained that the CBN had been duly notified of Mr. Babalola’s resignation as Chairman of the company and congratulated Abdullahi on his appointment.
While describing the resignation of Babalola as “regrettable,” the apex bank’s spokesman thanked Babalola for his service and acknowledged the strides recorded by the company under him.
According to him, CBN remains committed to ensuring transparent governance practises at the bank and the continued independence of the chairman and other persons holding key governance positions.
Nwanisobi stressed that the bank acknowledged that its regulatory interventions had made a positive impact and increased the attractiveness of the company to both local and foreign investors.
