Prof Dakas storms Plateau APC Secretariat, donates N1m to party
Prof Dakas CJ Dakas, Plateau State gubernatorial hopeful in the 2023 election on Wednesday stormed the Ewarewah House state secretariat of his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, where he addressed the recently elected state officials of the party.
Dakas’ entourage which included key members of his campaign organization, his beautiful wife, Beatrice, the three APC state zonal women leaders, the state woman leader, Mangu LGA APC,Chairman, as well as numerous loyal supporters, was received by the state APC Chairman, Hon Rufus Bature and the newly elected executives of the party.
The foremost gubernatorial aspirant explained that the purpose of his visit was to identify with the newly elected party officials and informally declare his bid to contest the governorship race come 2023 on the platform of the APC.
He further said that he would soon make a formal declaration in grand style, adding that the date for the formal declaration would be made public in due course.
The governorship hopeful harped on the need to foster peace and security, youthful representation, economic revolution and all-round inclusiveness in governance if elected governor.
Dakas also made a cash donation of one million naira to the party and promised to provide a more befitting secretariat for the party with the support of other party stalwarts.
Dakas who is also a professor of law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) commiserated with the state APC chairman whose elder brother passed on recently.
Responding, Hon Rufus Bature welcomed Dakas and his entourage and extolled his unique qualities which, according to him, stand him out among his peers in the governorship race.
Bature also promised to allow a level playing ground for fair contest during the party primaries, adding that he would give maximum support to whoever would emerge as the flag bearer of the party in the contest.
Speaking in her closing remarks on behalf of the entourage, one of Dakas campaign women mobilizers, stressed the importance of women in every society and expressed the hope that the era had come where women would be given the same level playing ground in the development of the state and party as the men.
According to her, women are tired of running for political offices without much dividends and stressed that it was in the best interest of the party to select leaders that women can submit their plights to and be attended to.
She thanked everyone for finding time irrespective of the Yuletide season’s difficulties and preparations, distance, time engagements and prayed for journey mercies to all present.
