Anambra Gov-elect, Soludo chooses local vehicle manufacturer, Innoson for official use
Anambra State governor-elect, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has chosen to patronize local vehicle manufacturer, Innoson for his official vehicle in demonstration of his campaign pledge to ensure the vibrancy of the local industry and boost the state’s economy.
Soludo made the pledge during his interaction with the members of his transition committee, stressing that his decision to use Innoson Vehicle Motors (IVM) as his official vehicle was part of his vision for the state.
He said, “Igbo land is one and we must protect it. We want to bring back the zeal of patronizing our own.
“I have said it even during campaigns, and I meant it, that if I win, the official car of the governor of Anambra State will be Innoson motors.”
The Governor-elect also pledged to wear locally manufactured clothes as a governor to make a statement.
“The dresses I will wear are those made in our place here. We must protect the things that are made in our place.
“Something is about to happen in Igboland, and together we will get there.”
Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, adorned a local Akwete outfit at the meeting, explained that it was an intentional statement, in order to give a boost to the local textile industry.
He said, “My Akwete dress is not just a dress, it’s a statement. I want to make a statement with it.
“You know, in the entire South-East, this is the only textile thing alive, and it’s handmade, by the women of Akwaete in Abia State.”
