Customs intercepts firearms at Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos

Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service have intercepted a Pistol with 2 magazines containing 26 rounds of ammunition in a baggage belonging to one Afolabi Olumide at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The operatives made the discovery while on routine examination at the ‘D’ wing of the arrival hall at about 1105 hours on 13th April 2022

DSC Victor Ogagbor, the Public Relations Officer, Murtala Mohammed International airport Lagos, revealed that Olumide with Passport number B50120017 arrived from Washington DC via United Airlines.

According to the PRO, the suspected passenger had earlier been accused by the Nigeria Immigration Service of illegally having 2 International Passports.

He said that the importation of the firearms contravenes Schedule 4 of the Customs and Excise and Management Act which is an Absolute Prohibition.

Oggbor disclosed that NCS MMIA Command has since handed over the suspect and the Arms to the Department of States Services.
