Ahead of his expected formal declaration to contest for Kebbi State governor in 2023, the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has gifted over 50 state-of-the-art vehicles to his supporters across the state.
The vehicles which are said to be worth over N1bn comprise of Mercedes Benz GLK and Toyota Prado Jeeps.
Periscope International gathered that the minister distributed 30 Mercedes Benz GLK, 20 Toyota Prado and other exotic vehicles to party executives and delegates preparatory to the election.
A quick review into the prices of the the vehicles he donated places the value of the over 50 exotic cars at over N1,000,000,000 (N1billion).
This is 10 times more than the huge N100millon APC presidential nomination form fee..
The over N1bn vehicle gifts have generated a lot of reactions from Nigerians with many asking what Malami’s annual income as a Minister is for him to be able to have such amount of money to spend on a governorship election.
Some also wondered if truly the government of President Buhari is fighting corruption as the heavy monetization of politics becomes more prevalent under the APC government.
The breakdown of vehicles distribution indicated that the minister gave 14 Mercedes-Benz GLK to 14 social media influencers (or warriors) who are defending and promoting his gubernatorial ambition.
The minister’s close associates also benefited from the vehicles galore gesture, with four of them smiling home with a Lexus LX 570 each.
Malami’s foundations and support groups; the Khadimiyya Foundation, the Khadi Malami Foundation, Malami Drum-Beats, Malami Women Support Organisation, as well as Aisha Malami Center for Women Development, promoted by his wife, all got eight Prado SUVs and four Toyota Hilux vehicle gifts.
