AFCON: Nigeria beat Egypt 1-0 to top group in opening match
Nigeria’s Super Eagles made a good start on Tuesday evening at the ongoing African Nations Cup tournament holding in Cameroon as they beat one of Africa’s strongest sides and seven times champions, Egypt, in their group opening match.
The Eagles showed class throughout the 90 minutes of the match, making Egypt look lost.
Kelechi Iheanacho’s first half spectacular goal, put Nigeria ahead of the Pharaohs.
The goal of Iheanacho, a major striker for English Premiership top side and 2016 winner, Leicester City came from a left flank cross to him at the outside yards of the Egyptian half of the pitch.
Iheanacho did a chester, revolved and blasted a shot that made the Egyptian goal tender look ordinary.
All through the second half of the game, the Nigerian side tutored by Nigerian legendary footballer, Augustine Eguavoen outclassed Egypt and sustained their lead to the end of the match.
The lead gave Nigeria three points and placed them atop the group so far.
