AFCON: Tunisia, Nigeria to clash on Sunday at knockout stage
Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles are set to clash at the knockout stage of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
The match between Nigeria and Tunisia will hold on Sunday by 8:00p.m.
Nigeria qualified for the round of sixteen as unbeaten group leaders with maximum nine points while Tunisia narrowly finished third in Group F.
Tunisia were beaten 1-0 by Gambia in their final group game on Thursday night, having previously lost a game and won the other to have three points.
Sunday’s clash between the two sides will be a repeat of their 2019 third-place playoff meeting in the last edition of the competition in Egypt, where the Super Eagles won.
The Carthage Eagles missed from the spot for the third successive game as Baboucarr Gaye saved Seifeddine Jaziri’s penalty while Ablie Jallow hit an injury-time winner for Gambia.
The Gambia finished in second spot in the group, while Mali which finished at the top of the group will face Guinea in the knockout stage.
