The fallen buffaloes.
By agency reports
About 92 buffaloes have drowned in the Chobe river at Kavimba village, in the Kabulabula area of Kabbe South in Zambezi Region.
Local reports said the buffaloes were running away from lions that were chasing them from one of the islands in Botswana.
It was gathered that the incident was the third time buffaloes had drowned in the same area.
In 2018, over 400 buffaloes drowned, while in 2023, over a hundred buffaloes also died after trampling on one another.
The Chobe River, which is located in Botswana, Southern Africa, forms the northern boundary of Chobe National Park and serves as a border between Botswana and Namibia’s Caprivi Strip.
The Chobe River is a tributary of the Zambezi River, which it joins near the town of Kasane.
The broader region where the two rivers meet is a unique point where four countries converge: Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
