Breaking: Mauritanian President emerges new AU Chairman
President of Mauritania, Mohamed Ghazouani has been elected as the new chairman of the African Union for 2024.
Ghazouani takes over from President Azali Assoumani of the Union of Comoros, who was the Chairperson for 2023.
The Mauritanian President was selected by his counterparts on Saturday, February 17 during the ongoing 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government.
The Summit is currently holding in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
