Captain Oluranti “Rantilicious” Ogoyi has been thrust into the public spotlight after her encounter with Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde, also known as K1 de Ultimate, during the recent controversial incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The accomplished aviator is the daughter of former Osun Central Senator Felix Ogunwale, who served in Nigeria’s upper legislative chamber between 2003 and 2007.

With over a decade in the cockpit, Captain Oluranti began her career with Arik Air, where she spent several years flying as a First Officer before earning her captain’s stripes in September 2021.

Her elevation was marked by a formal decoration ceremony led by industry leaders, including then-Arik CEO Captain Roy Ilegbodu, Director of Flight Operations Captain Adetokunbo Adekunbi, and current NCAA boss Captain Chris Najomo.

She later joined ValueJet, where she continues to make her mark as one of the country’s few female airline captains.

Oluranti is married to a fellow pilot, Isaac Ogoyi Jr, who also flew with Arik before moving on to RwandAir and currently Uganda Airlines.

Her name now headlines not just for her flying prowess, but for her role in upholding aviation safety protocols during a high-profile passenger dispute.
