CGC tasks newly inaugurated leaderships of Customs companies on effective management

Comptroller-General (CGC) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has charged the newly inaugurated chairmen and board members of NCS companies to effectively manage them and be dogged in the discharge of their duties and responsibilities.

Adeniyi, who gave the charge while inaugurating the companies’ new leaderships at the Customs Headquarters, Abuja, explained that incorporating the firms was part of NCS’ agenda to improve the well-being of its officers.

He said, “I wish to charge members of the boards of these different companies to see to the effective management of the companies, and be focused on discharging your duties and responsibilities, as I assure you of my support and guidance at all times.

“The registration of the companies that have been mentioned constitutes part of our agenda to improve Officers’ welfare.

“Their role in revenue generation and the implementation of fiscal policies of the government and the economic prosperity of the country cannot be overemphasized.”

The Customs CG noted that the board members were drawn from the service’s relevant departments, adding that the growing concerns would engage in specific businesses, ranging from aviation services to hospitality, healthcare, and broadcasting services.

He further explained that NCS was taking a cue from other MDAS, which successfully engaged in these ventures and expressed the hope that the newly inaugurated boards would nurture the companies to be stable and profit-oriented.

Adeniyi said that the appointees were well acquainted with managing the affairs of the companies, adding that representatives from the Ministry of Finance were members, while representatives from the Directorate of Legal Services would serve as the companies’ secretaries.

The four companies include the Nigeria Customs Service Technical & Hanger Services Limited; the Nigeria Customs Service Training & Hotels Limited; the Nigeria Customs Service Hospital Limited, and the Nigeria Customs Broadcast Network Limited.

The Technical and Hanger Service Limited is chaired by ACG AO Alajogun, while the Training and Hotels Limited is chaired by ACG Dappa-Williams.

The Hospital Service Limited is headed by ACG Ibrahim Alfa, while Comptroller Kamal Muhammad heads Nigeria Customs Broadcasting Network Limited.
