New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, chieftain, Buba Galadima, has warned that another civil war looms in Nigeria if President Tinubu appoints a notorious Court of Appeal Judge as INEC Chairman.

According to him, Nigeria faces civil unrest if the federal government goes ahead with an alleged plan to appoint the controversial judge as INEC chairman to replace the incumbent Prof. Mahmud Yakubu, when his tenure ends in November.

Galadima spoke while fielding questions on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme.

According to the NNPP chieftain, there are widespread rumours that the government is considering the appointment of the retired judge, whom he described as “notorious.”

“Come November, there are rumours all over the place that this government is nominating a just retired Court of Appeal judge who is known for notoriety to be the chairman of INEC.

“I wish it is not true. Because if that man becomes the chairman of INEC, be rest assured that this government is inviting a civil war in this country,” he said.

He accused the current administration of disregarding the rule of law and claimed that INEC under its present leadership was already compromised in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
