Customs CG charges staff college graduates to embrace integrity, professionalism
Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has tasked fresh graduates of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College Gwagwalada, Abuja, to embrace professionalism, integrity and uphold high standards in the service.
Adeniyi also encouraged them to take calculated risks and utilize the opportunities in their various commands, adding that continuous learning was necessary for the betterment of the service and the nation.
A statement issued in Abuja on Sunday by the spokesman of the service, Abdullahi Maiwada, said Adeniyi gave the charge during the college’s graduation ceremony of Senior Course 9 and Junior Course 17 officers.
The CGC, represented by the Deputy Comptroller General, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Sa’idu Galadima, stressed the importance of dedication to service and urged the officers to uphold high standards, wherever they served.
Also speaking, Sen Isah Echocho, Chairman, Senate Committee on Customs and Excise, who was the Special Guest of Honor, underscored the prevailing global economic challenges and stressed the importance of the NCS to positively impact society.
Echocho expressed the hope that the training acquired by the graduates in information communication technology, for instance, would positively contribute to boosting the Nigerian economy.
The Commandant of the College, ACG Kingsley Egwuh, thanked CGC Adeniyi and his Management Team for their unwavering support to the institution, especially for approving the students’ African Study Tour to Gambia, Ghana, Mozambique, and Tunisia.
He commended the graduates for their performance and 100% success in diverse training areas, which included academic standards, proficiency, and weapon handling.
ACG Egwu expressed optimism that the training which they acquired would enhance their performance.
He urged all the graduating officers to give their careers a purposeful meaning, shun all vices against growth and development, and uphold the NCS’ motto, which is Justice and Honesty.
The event was rounded off with a regimental dinner to honor the graduating officers.
