Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group has called on the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to take decisive action against refinery license holders who have failed to develop their facilities.

He urged the NMDPRA to either revoke such inactive licenses or impose yearly penalties to compel licensees to take action.

Dangote also recommended that the license holders be required to either begin constructing their refineries or relinquish the licenses entirely.

“I believe it’s the job of NMDPRA and the government to encourage others to build refineries.

”I’m relying on your leadership to ensure that those who have obtained licenses are working with you,” he said.

“Anyone who collected a license should either have it revoked or be fined annually until they return the license or proceed with building their refinery,” he added.
