The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), says it has not directed the mandatory closure of all government secondary schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)  on Nov. 28.
Mr Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister,  Nyesom Wike, said this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
Olayinka said that no such decision was taken at any level of the administration, and described the report on early closure of schools as false and misleading.
He therefore urged parents, students, and school authorities to disregard the rumour.
According to him, the approved academic calendar remains unchanged.
Lere also assured  residents of the FCT,  especially students of adequate security,  adding that the minister had directed the resumption of Operation Sweep and other security initiatives in the federal capital
He further said that the minister had directed the immediate suspension of the Mandate Secretary for Education,  Dr Danlami Hayyo.
“The Acting Head of Service,  Mrs Nancy Nathan, has also been mandated to discipline the Director, School Services, Mrs Aishatu Sani Alhassan, in accordance with the civil service rules,” he added. (NAN)
