Elections: Group endorses Atiku, urges agitators to sheath sword

One Nigeria Group (ONG), a coalition, has endorsed the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar ahead of the presidential election slated for Saturday.

The President of the group, Alhaji Muhammad Saleh-Hassan made the call while addressing newsman in Abuja on Wednesday.

He urged agitators and separatists to sheath their swords and unite for a united and developed Nigeria.

Saleh-Hassan urged all Nigerians to throw their weight behind the PDP candidate during the election

“At this juncture, I like to declare unequivocally that One Nigeria Group’s choice of president is the candidate of the PDP and former Vice President.

“We also urge everybody here today and all Nigerians to tread this path of hope for good governance that we have all been aspiring for,“he said.

He said that Abubakar was the right choice as he has never been accused of sectionalism nor being a member of any secessionist group or movement.

“His five-point agenda borders on unity, security, education, economy and resources and it is against this background that we declare our support for him,“he said.

Saleh-Hassan said that Abubakar has sincerely demonstrated the determination and commitment to serve the nation.

According to him, a vote for Atiku is a vote for peace, unity, progress, prosperity and comfort that the populace had been expecting.

The president urged Nigerians to conduct themselves during the elections with respect for the rule of law in order to achieve the purpose of electing the right leaders for the country.

He also urged the security agencies, particularly the Police, Army, NSCDC, DSS to be professional before, during and after the elections.

The president called on the youths to take their destinies in their hands to achieve a better tomorrow..

He urged the local and international observers, as well as the media, to be professional and objective in the discharge of their duties during the elections.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
