Herdsmen terrorists let loose across the country.
A woman who was abducted alongside her maid and husband while traveling to celebrate their daughter’s wedding, has shared her traumatic experience in the hands of their kidnappers in the bush.
She said that while traveling on April 17, 2024, they encountered a roadblock caused by cows near a junction, where armed herders emerged, brandishing guns and forcefully directing them into the nearby bush.
Despite their distressing situation, she said that nearby farmers chose not to intervene, leaving them vulnerable to their captors.
She said that while in the bush, they endured unimaginable horrors, enduring repeated acts of rape and brutal violence at the hands of the perpetrators.
The victim narrated that herself and her maid were serially raped in front of her husband, who was also ruthlessly sodomized.
She said that the kidnappers confiscated their phones and demanded a ransom of 100 million naira for each of them.
The woman said that the terrorists, threatened dire consequences, if their demands were not met.
She said that after three agonizing days of captivity, marked by severe physical and sexual abuse, her husband sustained life-threatening injuries, while her maid fell seriously ill.
Despite raising 15 million naira in ransom, she said that the perpetrators instructed their son-in-law to deliver the money to Main Market Onitsha, suggesting potential collusion with local money changers.
“I am a native of Ukwulu, married to Nawgwu.
“On the 17th of April, 2024, we came back to celebrate the marriage of my daughter.
“As we were driving to Ukwulu through Abba Junction, after ELDI, we saw cows crossing the road and stopped.
“Immediately, the herders blocked the road and brought out guns and ordered us into the bush.
“They tied our hands behind us.
“They started beating us.
“Some farmers saw us and looked away. They did not help us.
“In the bush, they raped me and my maid in the presence of my husband every time without mercy.
“The third man tore my husband’s trousers and continued to rape him through the anus,” the traumatized victim, who preferred not to be named, narrated.
