Kenyan President William Ruto has been ranked as the world’s second most corrupt leader.
This is according to the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP).
OCCRP is an international investigative journalism network.
The ranking, based on public nominations, saw Ruto receive over 40,000 submissions, the highest in OCCRP history.
Only Syria’s ousted President Bashar al-Assad surpassed him to claim the top spot.
Ruto’s administration has been accused of massive corruption.
OCCRP usually compiles its annual rankings based on public nominations and assessments of leaders’ involvement in organized crime, corruption, and power abuse.
