Kidnapped Air Force officer, wife, still in captivity 7 weeks after

A Nigerian Air Force officer, Squadron Leader Nurudeen Popoola, who was kidnapped seven weeks ago, is still in captivity, family sources said.

Popoola was abducted along with his wife, Ganiyat Olawale-Popoola and Abdulmumuny Folaranmi around 1 am on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

The victims were abducted from the family’s residence within the National Eye Centre Quarters, Mando, Kaduna.

“The three kidnapped victims are all indigenes of Iseyin Local Government Area in Oyo State.

“They have not been released as of now. It is seven weeks now that they were kidnapped,” the family source said.

It would be recalled that ecently, Alhaji Olatunde Rafiu, a cousin of the air force officer, who spoke with journalists, appealed to President Bola Tinubu and Gov Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to help in securing the victims’ release.

“We are renewing our appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to help us do something within the little time left of the ultimatum given,” Rafiu had said.
