A middle-aged man identified as Mr Ayoola Ayanwale, has allegedly committed suicide after stabbing his wife, Ayobami, a mother of three, multiple times to death.

The incident took place at the family’s residence in the River Valley Estate area of Ogun State on Thursday, Jan 8.

The tragedy follows what some neighbors described as a heated argument between the deceased couple.

Their neighbors in the estate said they heard a loud noise from the compound of the couple and quickly rushed in, only to find the wife with deep cuts and lying in a pool of her own blood.

They quickly mobilized and rushed her to the hospital, and that while on their way, she demanded for water and asked what her offence was for her husband to inflict such injuries on her.

About five minutes after arriving in the hospital she gave up the ghost.

According to them, doctors confirmed that she was stabbed close to her lungs which affected her breathing.

It was gathered that her husband later came into the house to clean up all the blood stains.

The wife’s brother alleged that the husband stabbed her five times on her breast, back, chest in the presence of their three children.

It was also gathered that the husband was later found gasping for air in an open field in the Sotubo area of Ogun State on Friday Jan. 9. and died not long after.

Items recovered at the scene included a bottle containing a liquid substance, which he suspectedly drank, two mobile phones, a voter’s card, and an ATM card.

The spokesperson of the police command in the state, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident.

He said that the command would soon release a statement about the incident.
