Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has procured two advanced surveillance aircraft to enhance the state’s security framework and architecture.
Makinde explained that the acquisition of the aircraft was a pivotal step in deploying aerial surveillance technology to combat banditry, kidnapping, and other emerging threats across Oyo’s vast terrain.
Speaking during a visit to a leading aviation facility in Shenzhen, the governor conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft.
The aircraft are equipped with cutting-edge thermal imaging, real-time video feeds, and AI-driven analytics for monitoring hard-to-reach forested areas and urban hotspots.
He said that the initiative built on the administration’s multifaceted security investments since 2019, which included the provision of operational vehicles, communication tools, and welfare support for security agencies.
With the aircraft slated for immediate delivery and operational launch, Oyo State is poised to pioneer aerial policing in Nigeria’s Southwest, fostering a safer environment for economic growth, agriculture, and community well-being.
