Buttocks enhancement procedure
The police command in Lagos State has declared wanted a buttocks enlargement surgeon, Dr Idara Bassey, following the death of her client, a 36-year-old woman, named Abiola, during a procedure in her clinic.
Abiola had reportedly left her home in Diamond Estate, Sangotedo, located in the Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State, on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, instructing her driver to take her to the clinic for the procedure.
The procedure, commonly known as a Brazilian Butt Lift, is a cosmetic surgery that involves extracting fat from other parts of the body and injecting it into the buttocks to achieve a fuller, rounder appearance.
Upon arriving at the clinic, Abiola was given an injection by a nurse, allegedly acting on Dr Bassey’s instructions.
According to the driver who accompanied her, Abiola lost consciousness and began gasping for breath shortly after the injection.
The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident and stated that the nurse who administered the injection had been arrested.
However, he said that Dr Bassey, was currently on the run.
“The clinic’s owner is on the run, and has been declared wanted, as she is considered a suspect in the case,” Hundeyin said.
Periscope International reports that buttock or gluteal augmentation is a procedure used to improve the volume, shape, and contour of the female buttocks.
Buttock augmentation can be achieved through fat grafting, (famously referred to as a Brazilian Butt Lift or BBL), silicone implants, or sometimes a combination of these two techniques.
For umpteenth times, medical experts have warned about the risks associated with such procedures but many women continue to undergo the surgery.
