Shakeup in police as IGP posts DCPs, ACPs to commands, formations

No fewer than 86 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) and 206 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) have been posted to commands and formations nationwide.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who announced this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, said that the postings were ordered by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Baba.

Adejobi said that the deployed officers would deputise other senior ranking officers in the discharge of critical administrative, investigative and operational policing duties for an effective and citizen-led policing.

According to the force spokesman, the aim was to strengthen and catalyse national security mechanisms to improve policing system across the country.

Adejobi assured that the  police was committed to ensuring that it embarked on initiatives to improve internal security in the country.
