Former Super Eagles striker, Michael Eneramo, is dead.
Eneramo, aged 40, was said to have collapsed and died while playing a football match at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in the Television area of Kaduna.
Sources familiar with the incident said that he was brought on in the second half of the match but soon slumped without contact with anyone.
“He slumped and died right on the spot. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
“He was later pronounced dead at the hospital,” the source who preferred to be anonymous said.
Eneramo played for various clubs in his career such as Besiktas of Turkey, Tunisian champions Esperance as well as Lobi Stars of Makurdi.
In 2008, Eneramo considered accepting Tunisian citizenship in order to become eligible to play for the national team of the North African country.
He was eventually called up to the Nigeria national team in 2009 and played his first game on 11 February 2009.
In his second game with the Super Eagles, Eneramo scored the opening goal against the Republic of Ireland.
