Gunmen kill 2, injure soldiers, others in southern Kaduna attack
Gunmen have launched an attack on Gora Bafai, Atyap Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area in southern Kaduna State, and killed 2 villagers, injured many others including military personnel.
Thursday’s attack occurred barely three weeks after 29 people were similarly massacred by gunmen in an attack on Runji Village in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the military personnel and civilians who were injured in the attack were taken to the hospital where they are currently receiving to treatment.
Confirming the incident, Dr Samuel Achie, President, Atyap Community Development Association, said the hoodlums first attacked the military personnel keeping surveillance in the village, before the attack.
Achie said, “We are waiting to see what Brig. Gen Opurum is going to do after warning both the Atyap, the Hausa and Fulani people against carrying out an attack again.
“Opurum promised to deal decisively with any group of people that carried out any attack again.”
The community leader explained that the Atyap people through their monarch were exploring all means for the sustenance of peace with other tribes within his domain.
He said those killed would be buried, while praying for the recovery of those injured.
Periscope International reports that security authorities had yet to officially react to the incident as of the time of filing this report.
