Police recover decomposing corpse of female student allegedly killed by jealous lover

The Bayelsa State Police Command on Wednesday said it had recovered the decomposing body of a 23-year old female student of the Niger Delta University (NDU).

The Command’s Public Relations’ Officer, Asinmin Butswat, a Superrintendent of Police, who confirmed the development in a statement, gave the name of the student as Jennifer Ugadu. .

The police spokesman said that preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased, a 200-level student of the faculty of education, was allegedly shot dead by her soldier-lover.

”The corpse was discovered on July 13. Investigations also revealed that the deceased was last seen with the boyfriend on July 11.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that the deceased was shot in her apartment by her boyfriend, James Matol, who is allegedly a member of the Nigerian Army,” he said.

Butswat further said that the State Commissioner of Police, Mike Okoli, had ordered a “thorough, discreet” investigation into the matter.
