Plateau APC chairman says Prof Dakas eminently qualified for Governor

Hon Rufus Bature, Plateau State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described Prof Dakas CJ Dakas, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and frontline 2023 Plateau State governorship aspirant on the platform of the APC, as eminently qualified to become the next governor of the state.

The party chairman stressed that Dakas had paid his political dues to the state, based on the excellent track record of his past political assignments and so was eminently qualified to aspire for the most coveted seat in Plateau State.

Bature, who stated this in Jos on Saturday when he received Dakas and his team who visited him to congratulate him and the new state party executive on their recent election, thanked Dakas and his team for the visit saying that the party was for all and sundry, as well as for the good of the state.

The state ruling APC chairman, however, said that it was the people who would ultimately form the nucleus of the decision to elect the next governor of the state and urged the gubernatorial aspirant to deepen and sustain the tempo of his engagements with the people, especially the masses at the grassroots.

Bature, who is also a former Secretary to the Government of Plateau State and ex-governorship aspirant, described the visit as the first of its kind by an aspirant since he came into office, said his doors would remain open to all party faithful as the consultations continued across the state.

He disclosed that from the last count, there were no fewer than thirty-two persons who were aspiring for the state’s number one seat across various political parties, and still counting, and urged them all to go round and market themselves to the masses whom they were aspiring to serve.

Bature assured Dakas and his team that the party would  create a level playing platform for its members to compete across board, stressing that it would be a family affair.

Earlier in his remarks, Prof Dakas had described Hon Bature as a bridge-builder, who had reached out to people across religious, ethnic and other divides throughout his political career.

Dakas, stressed that the new party boss had made positive tremendous marks in the lives of many people across the state because of his strong belief in the unity of Plateau across fault lines which some people may want to use to cause division.

While congratulating Bature on his election as Plateau APC Chairman, Dakas noted that the new party chairman had always remained resolute and determined in his political activities ever since he was the Minority Leader in the Plateau State House of Assembly, where he excelled.

Prof Dakas assured Bature and the new executive of the party of his support and the support of his campaign team so that they would collectively succeed in the arduous task of working  for the success of the APC in the state.

Dakas said, “I and my team are paying you this visit to show solidarity with you and your wonderful team on your emergence as the chairman of our great party.

“We have a strong belief that you will use your wealth of experience and further build the party preparatory to another success come 2023.

“We pray that God gives you the wisdom to carry on and emerge victorious at the end sir.”

Also speaking earlier, Hajiya Salamatu Ahmed, a top women mobilization leader who was in the entourage, thanked the party chairman for accepting to see the Dakas team within a short notice of intention to visit him.

According to Ahmed, Dakas has the best attributes and the right pedigree to become Plateau State Governor, and that he means well for the people and the state, hence their decision to pitch their tent with him in the best interests of the people and Plateau State.

Prof Dakas was accompanied to the visit by his wife, Barr. Beatrice Dakas, senior members of his team, as well as his teeming supporters.
